black forest banana cupcakes

Started digging through old recipes in the back of my recipe box. I used this for family meals at holidays. It's also another good use for those too ripe bananas you're trying to figure out what to do with.

Ingredients
- 1 package cream cheese ( 8 ounces) light, softened
- 1 3/4 cups sugar, divided
- 1 - egg
- 1/3 cup candied cherries, chopped
- 1/4 cup miniature semisweet chocolate pieces
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 large ripe bananas mashed (about 3/4 cup)
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 3/4 cup water
How To Make black forest banana cupcakes

Step 1Beat cream cheese in a small bowl until smooth. Add 1/4 cup of the sugar and egg: beat until well blended. Stir in cherries and chocolate peices: set aside.

Step 2Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder and remaining 1 1/2 cups sugar in a large bowl. Add bananas, oil and water; stir until well blended.

Step 3Spoon chocolate mixture evenly into 24 paper lined muffin cups. Spoon about 1 tablespoon cream mixture into the center of each cupcake.

Step 4Bake at 350 F for 25 to 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Remove from pan; let cool completely on wire rack.
