- 8 ounces cream cheese
- 1 - egg
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup mini chocolate chips
- 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup (heaping) cocoa
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup water
- 1/3 cup oil
- tablespoon vinegar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Step 1In a medium-sized bowl, combine the cream cheese, egg, 1/3 cup sugar, 1/8 tsp. salt, and 1/2 tsp. vanilla. Mix until smooth. Stir in the chocolate chips.

Step 2In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, 1 cup sugar, cocoa, baking soda, and the 1/2 tsp. salt.

Step 3Add the water, oil, vinegar and the tablespoon of vanilla to the dry ingredients; stir until blended.

Step 4Fill 18 paper-lined cupcake cups half-full with cake batter.

Step 5Drop a tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture into each cup. Then, using a spoon, lightly cover the cream cheese with the cake batter. This makes the tops more rounded.

Step 6Bake in a preheated 350-degree oven for about 30-35 minutes.
