brown sugar pound cake
This is another one of my family's favorites for Thanksgiving or anytime! I made this one Thanksgiving and it's become a tradition. It's such a pretty cake for the Fall Season!

Ingredients
- 1 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 pound box light brown sugar
- 5 large eggs
- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup evaporated milk
- 1 teaspoon maple flavoring or vanilla extract
- - brown sugar glaze
- BROWN SUGAR GLAZE
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1/4 cup evaporated milk
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
How To Make brown sugar pound cake

Step 1Beat shortening, butter and brown sugar at medium speed with electric mixer about 2 minutes or until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.

Step 2Combine flour, salt, and baking powder; add alternately with milk, biginning & ending with flour mixture. Stir in flavoring. Pour batter into a greased & floured bundt pan.

Step 3Bake at 300o for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Let cool on wire rack for 15 minutes; remove from pan & cool completely. Pur warm brown sugar glaze over cake.

Step 4Brown Sugar Glaze: Melt butter in saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in brown sugar and cook 1 minute. Add milk, powdered sugar, and vanilla; whisk until creamy. Remove from heat and pour immediately over cooled cake.
