This is another one of my family's favorites for Thanksgiving or anytime! I made this one Thanksgiving and it's become a tradition. It's such a pretty cake for the Fall Season!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 pound box light brown sugar
  • 5 large eggs
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 teaspoon maple flavoring or vanilla extract
  • - brown sugar glaze
  • BROWN SUGAR GLAZE
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/4 cup evaporated milk
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

How To Make brown sugar pound cake

  • Step 1
    Beat shortening, butter and brown sugar at medium speed with electric mixer about 2 minutes or until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Step 2
    Combine flour, salt, and baking powder; add alternately with milk, biginning & ending with flour mixture. Stir in flavoring. Pour batter into a greased & floured bundt pan.
  • Step 3
    Bake at 300o for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Let cool on wire rack for 15 minutes; remove from pan & cool completely. Pur warm brown sugar glaze over cake.
  • Step 4
    Brown Sugar Glaze: Melt butter in saucepan over medium heat. Whisk in brown sugar and cook 1 minute. Add milk, powdered sugar, and vanilla; whisk until creamy. Remove from heat and pour immediately over cooled cake.
