My daughter is very picky. I make this every year for my daughter's birthday. She just requests it every year. She just loves it.

    sugar
  • 2 stick
    butter,unsalted
  • 4 large
    eggs
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 2 3/4 c
    all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 2 c
    water
  • 1 c
    cocoa powder
  • ·
    frosting:
  • 14 Tbsp
    butter, unsalted at room temp.
  • 1(8 oz)
    cream cheese
  • 1 c
    sour cream
  • 1/4 c
    cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 16 oz
    semisweet baking chocolate squers
  • 2 1/2 c
    confectioners' sugar

How to Make Best Chocolate Cake Ever

Step-by-Step

  1. In sauce pan bring the water to a boil,then turn off heat and whisk in the cocoa.Mix until smooth.Put aside and let it cool.In separate bowl mix together flour, baking soda,powder and salt,set aside.
  2. Mix together butter, sugar,vanilla.Add eggs,one at the time,mix until fluffy.Alternately add the flour mixture and the cool cocoa mixture,until combine.
  3. Prepare two 9 inch round cake pans (or any pan you prefer ,I made three different sizes square pans).
  4. Bake in 350 degrees preheat oven,for 45 minutes,or until toothpick comes out clean.Cool completely.
  5. For the frosting: melt the chocolate in a double boiler,stirring constantly.Cool.In a bowl mix together the confectioners'sugar and cocoa.Set aside.
  6. In the mixer bowl,mix together the butter and cream cheese until fluffy. Add the confectioners' sugar mixture,sour cream and vanilla.
  7. Slowly add the melted ,cool chocolate.Mix just until combine.
  8. Split each layer of the cake in half.Spread frosting on top of each layer.Spread evenly on top and on the sides.Decorate.
