This is a simple elegant coffee cake that I have used for baby showers, christening parties and any other excuse I can find to make it.

Ingredients

2 pkg
crescent rolls
2 pkg
cream cheese (8 oz each)
3/4 c
brown sugar
1 tsp
vanilla
1 tsp
lemon juice
1
egg yolk, reserve the white

TOPPING

1/2 c
chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
1/3 c
brown sugar

How to Make Bert's Coffee Cake

Step-by-Step

  • 1Roll out 1 package of the crescent rolls into a 9x13" baking dish. Press seams together.
  • 2Combine cream cheese, brown sugar, vanilla, lemon juice & egg yolk & spread over crescent rolls in baking dish. Roll out second package of crescent rolls over cheese mixture. Do not seal these seams. Brush with reserved egg white.
  • 3Combine chopped nuts and brown sugar. Sprinkle on top of coffee cake. Bake in a pre-heated 350 degree oven for 35-40 minutes. Let cool completely before cutting.
