bert's coffee cake
This is a simple elegant coffee cake that I have used for baby showers, christening parties and any other excuse I can find to make it.

Ingredients
- 2 packages crescent rolls
- 2 packages cream cheese (8 oz each)
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1 - egg yolk, reserve the white
- TOPPING
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
How To Make bert's coffee cake

Step 1Roll out 1 package of the crescent rolls into a 9x13" baking dish. Press seams together.

Step 2Combine cream cheese, brown sugar, vanilla, lemon juice & egg yolk & spread over crescent rolls in baking dish. Roll out second package of crescent rolls over cheese mixture. Do not seal these seams. Brush with reserved egg white.

Step 3Combine chopped nuts and brown sugar. Sprinkle on top of coffee cake. Bake in a pre-heated 350 degree oven for 35-40 minutes. Let cool completely before cutting.
