Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 3
    eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 c
    salad oil
  • 1 1/2 c
    canned beets, sieved
  • 2
    squares semisweet chocolate
  • 1 3/4 c
    flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1 can(s)
    cream cheese frosting
  • 1/4 c
    chopped walnuts

How to Make Beet Cake

Step-by-Step

  1. Cream sugar, eggs and oil. Blend beets and melted chocolate together. Sift flour, baking soda and salt. Add all ingredients together and add vanilla extract.
  2. Grease and dust with flour. Bake at 350F in 2 eight inch pans or 2 nine inch pans for 20-25 minutes. Let it cool.
  3. Spread cream cheese frosting over cake. Sprinkle with walnuts.
