Ingredients
- 2 cups firmly- packed light brown sugar
- 1 cup shortening
- 2 - eggs
- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon allspice, ground
- 1/2 teaspoon cloves
- 2 cups beer
- 1 cup chopped nuts
- 2 cups dates
How To Make beer cake

Step 1Cream brown sugar and shortening until smooth. Add eggs, blending well. Combine dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture alternatly with beer, beating well after each addition. Stir in pecans and dates. Spoon batter in well greased pan and floured 10 inch tube pan.Bake at 350. Frost with caramel frosting.
