Ingredients

  • 2 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 c
    shortening
  • 3 c
    self-rising flour
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp
    ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp
    ground cloves
  • 1 tsp
    ground allspice
  • 1 c
    chopped pecans
  • 1 c
    chopped candied dates
  • 2
    eggs
  • 2 c
    beer

How to Make BEER CAKE

Step-by-Step

  1. CREAM BROWN SUGAR AND SHORTENING UNTIL SMOOTH.
  2. ADD EGGS BLENDING WELL.
  3. COMBINE DRY INGREDIENTS, ADD TO CREAMED MIXTURE ALTERNATING WITH BEER, BEATING WELL AFTER EACH ADDITION.
  4. STIR IN PECANS AND DATES.
  5. SPOON INTO 10 TUBE PAN (ANGLE FOOD CAKE PAN).
  6. BAKE AT 350* FOR 1 HOUR 15 MINUTES, OR BAKE IN A 13X9X2 PAN FOR 1 HOUR.
  7. ICING ANY HOMEMADE CARMEL FROSTING OR USE BETTER CROCKER BUTTER PECAN FROSTING.
