Basic Lemon Bundt Cake

I have a friend who said they wished they had a good, basic lemon cake recipe that tasted like real lemons and not just a yellow cake mix (her words!).

I found this recipe online (allrecipes) and added a little more lemony goodness to it.

butter, softened
2 c
1 1/2 tsp
lemon extract
1 1/2 tsp
1 c
juice of 3 lemons + milk to make 1 cup total
3 c
2 tsp
baking powder
1 Tbsp
lemon zest (i used zest of 3 lemons)


1/4 c
lemon juice
1 Tbsp
1/2 tsp
lemon extract
3/4 c
powdered sugar
zest of 1 lemon

How to Make Basic Lemon Bundt Cake


  • 1Heat oven to 350 degrees. Generously grease bundt pan.
  • 2Cream together butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, combining well after each egg. Add in extracts. Combine flour and powder. Add to sugar mixture 1 cup at a time, alternating with milk/lemon juice. Stir in zest.
  • 3Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 60-70 minutes until wooden pick inserted comes out clean. Cool in pan pan for 10 minutes before inverting on pan/wire rack to cool completely.
  • 4Prepare glaze by combining all ingredients together until smooth. Drizzle over smooth cake and pucker up!!!
