Ingredients
- 1 lb. box confectioners' sugar
- 1/3 - 1/4 cup crisco
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract (or other desired flavor)
How To Make basic cake frosting

Step 1Mix all ingredients together & beat at medium speed with mixer for 7 - 8 minutes, or until smooth & lump-free. Stop & then beat again. If too thick, add drops of water while beating until of desired consistency. Icing or icing leftovers will keep indefinitely in the refrigerator. To use later, beat again to make smooth. A little water may need to be added.
