- 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup butter,softened (2 sticks)
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 4 large eggs, at room temp
- 3/4 cup milk
How To Make basic butter cake

Step 1Preheat oven to 350. Butter and flour 2 9 inch round cake pan.Line with waxed paper and butter the paper. Sift flour,baking powder and salt into a large bowl. Beat the butter,sugar and vanilla in a large bowl with an electric mixer at medium speed until creamy. Add eggs,one at a time,until just blended after each addition. With mixer at low speed, gradually beat in dry ingredients, alternating with the milk. Spoon the batter into the prepared pan.

Step 2Bake for 45-55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool the cake in the pan for 10 minutes. Turn out onto a rack. Carefully remove the waxed paper and let cool completely.
