I only use self rising flour, but I listed this one to be able to use with All purpose. This cake is very moist and good. I do some times make a banana nut icing for it, and some times bake in 3 round pans, stack and Ice.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c
    crisco shortening
  • 1 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 2
    large eggs
  • 2 c
    flour
  • 1/4 tsp
    bakeing powder
  • 3/4 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 3 - 4
    over ripe bananas mashed well
  • 1/4 c
    buttermilk
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1 c
    chopped pecans

How to Make Banana Nut Cake

Step-by-Step

  1. Pre heat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Spray 9 x 13 pan with cooking spray.
  3. Mix all ingredients except pecans well. Stir in pecans last
  4. Pour into cake pan and bake for 30 35 minutes. Cake is very moist, if tooth pick used to test, may have small amount of cake on tooth pick. Do not over bake.
