Ingredients

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 2 cans (8 ounce) each, crushed pineapple
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 package (8 ounce) cream cheese
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 package (4 serving) instant vanilla pudding
  • 4 - bananas
  • 1 - (16 ounce) tub frozen whipped topping, defrosted
  • 1/2 jar (10 ounce) maraschino cherries, chopped
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped
  • 1 cup toasted,flaked coconut, optional

How To Make banana dessert cake

  • Step 1
    Bake cake, according to directions, in greased 9 X 13 in baking pan. Prick all over with fork when done, set aside on wired rack.
  • Step 2
    In a small saucepan, mix the pineapple and sugar and bring to a boil. Pour all over still warm cake. Cool cake completely.
  • Step 3
    Beat cream cheese with electric mixer until smooth. Slowly add the 2 cups of milk and instant pudding and mix well. Spread on top of cooled cake. Place in refrigerator for about 30 minutes until pudding is set.
  • Step 4
    Cover pudding layer with bananas. Cover bananas with whipped topping. Sprinkle cherries, pecans and coconut on top. Refrigerate for several hours before serving.
