Yes, there are many ways to make them, many names that they have been called, but THESE RIGHT HERE are it. It's only the most overboard recipe that could be the original...and what of these folks sayin' that the original whoopie pie filling didn't have Fluff in it? We're from New England, people! We grew up on Fluff! Every yummy recipe should include Fluff! Enjoy my Authentic Maine-ah whoopie pies!

How To Make ayuh, these be maine-ah whoopie pies

  • Step 1
For the Whoopie Pie shells, start by sifting together the dry ingredients in a bowl. Set aside. In a separate bowl, mix together shortening, butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Add milk, cocoa and hot water. Then add the dry ingredients. Scoop large rounded (tea- or table-) spoonfuls of batter onto a greased cookie sheet and space at least 2" apart. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
  • Step 2
For the filling, add all ingredients in a bowl and beat until smooth. Then place a scoop (or two...or three) of filling between two of the shells and enjoy!
