Use any apples you like. I have seen my mother make this cake with apples on the verge on rotting. It seems to be the no fail cake recipe! Different apple varieties will vary the taste.

Ingredients

4 c
apples peeled, cored, and chopped into pieces
1/2 c
cooking oil
2
eggs
1 tsp
vanilla
1 Tbsp
water
2 c
flour
2 c
sugar
3/4 tsp
baking powder
2 tsp
baking soda
2 tsp
cinnamon
3/4 tsp
salt

How to Make Aunt Ruth's Apple Cake

Step-by-Step

  • 1mix all ingredients together. mixture will be dry. they do not have to be added in any certain order
  • 2spray the bottom of a 13X9 pan with cooking oil spray (i.e. Pam)
  • 3Pack mixture in pan
  • 4Bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees. cake will be moist and golden brown. Serve hot or at room temperature with ice cream or whipped cream!
