aunt grace's rum cake
I always knew it was something special when mom would make this. Around the holidays or when family was coming for a visit. When we were little we thought we were being so naughty because of the rum. Tons of good memories with this one.

Ingredients
- 3 cups sifted flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- SIFT THESE 4 INGREDIENTS TOGETHER--2 TIMES
- 1/2 cup butter
- 4 - eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 teaspoons rum extract
- RUM CAKE GLAZE
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup butter
- BRING TO BOIL- LET COOL TO WARM
- WHEN WARM ADD THESE:
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon rum extract
How To Make aunt grace's rum cake

Step 1Cream together butter and sugar, add eggs one at a time, beating well after each egg.

Step 2Add buttermilk alternately with dry ingredients.

Step 3Bake in slow oven 325 degrees for 1 hour (may take longer depending on your oven)in well greased & floured bundt pan.

Step 4Let cake cool slightly before turning out of the pan. Use pastry brush to apply glaze to slightly warm cake.
