aunt aileen's pound cake
This is a recipe that my great aunt gave each girl when she got married, I remember when I got my copy. I always thought her last name was "Pounds" because of this cake.

How To Make aunt aileen's pound cake
-
Step 1Preheat oven to 350* Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, then add vanilla and salt. Keep mixing until mixture is beginning to looked whipped.
-
Step 2Add flour and baking powder to mixture 1/2 cup at a time.
-
Step 3Grease and flour a tube pan. Pour cake batter into greased and floured pan. Shake it a little to make sure it is even in the pan then pick it up a few inches off the counter (2 or 3 inches) and drop it back onto the counter three or four times. (Gets rid of air bubbles for more even baking.) Bake for 1 hour 15 minutes. (A bunt pan can be used and Baker's Joy can also be used.)
