My Aunt used to make this recipe often. The batter is so stiff that she used to kid about using it for patching the sidewalk. It's a wonderful, moist and flavorful cake, once it's baked!

How to Make Aunt Adelaide's "Cement Cake"

  • 1Place cake mix in large bowl, add oil and beaten eggs.

Pulse cherry pie filling in food processor briefly, just enough so that there are still pieces of cherries visible, but not whole ones.
  • 2Add cherry filling to bowl, and mix all ingredients.

WARNING: Batter will be VERY stiff!!!

Put into greased and floured pan, spread with spatula. Bake according to instructions on cake mix box.
