Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 - egg, beaten well
- 2 cups flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 1/2 cups applesauce
- CREAM CHEESE FROSTING
- 1 package (8oz.) cream cheese, do not use fat free
- 1/2 stick butter
- 1 box powdered sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1/2 cup chopeed pecans to sprinkle on frosting if desired
How To Make applesauce spice cake

Step 1Cream butter and sugar together until fluffy and then add one well-beaten egg.

Step 2Sift all the dry ingredients together.

Step 3Add to the butter mixture ALTERNATING with the applesauce, beginning and ending with the flour mixture.

Step 4Bake in a square pan (9x9) or in 14 paper lined cupcake tins. Bake at 350 for about 25 minutes---test for doneness. Cool and then frost with cream cheese frosting. NOTE: 1/2 recipe of the frosting with frost 14 cupcakes or 2 cakes.
