applesauce brownies

This brownie, was my late father's favorite! And I am my father's daughter, I too share the same LOVE for these brownies, they are so moist and ever so delicious. My father and I would always take a middle slice, (we don't like edges on our cakes,brownies or any dessert for that matter) and it would drive my mother crazy, there would be this big hole in the middle of the pan. LOL. It's one of my favorite memories of my dad,racing to see who would get the 1st slice of that perfect moist brownie. I hope this Dish finds its way to your table top soon, Enjoy!!

Ingredients

  • BROWNIE MIXTURE
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup soft butter or margarine
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon, ground
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 cup applesauce
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • TOPPING
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup coconut,shredded
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup nuts (optional) any kind you prefer

How To Make applesauce brownies

  • Step 1
    Pre-heat oven to 350* Mix all dry ingredients with butter, Add eggs, mix well with mixer. Then add Applesauce and raisins.Add vanilla
  • Step 2
    In a smaller bowl. Mix Sugar,coconut and melted butter/margarine stir with fork, let sit.
  • Step 3
    Pour brownie batter into a greased 9x9 pan ******** and for a Double batch, Simple double the recipe and place in an 9x13 greased pan.*************
  • Step 4
    Cover brownies with coconut mixture,spreading evenly through out the entire top of the mixture, Bake for 45 minutes.
  • Step 5
    Remove from oven,Let cool at room temperature and then place in fridge, covered and will keep for up to four days!!! Or slice and serve immediately! I prefer all my cakes,brownies cold, but if you love yours warm, then serve it up, nice and hot!!!!! Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
