I got this recipe about 25 years ago from a Robin Hood recipe pamphlet. It works every time. Try cherry or blueberry pie filling instead of apple. I've tried them and they work great too.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 medium egg, beaten
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 can apple pie filling (19 oz)
  • 1/3 cup raisins

How To Make apple streusel coffeecake

  • Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease and flour a 9" spring form pan or spray with cooking spray.
  • Step 2
Combine flour and sugar in a large bowl. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly. Set aside 1/2 cup of mixture. To the remainder, add the baking powder and baking soda.
  • Step 3
In a separate bowl, combine the egg and buttermilk. Add to dry ingredients. Stir until just moistened. Spread 2/3 of the batter over the bottom and up the side of the spring form pan.
  • Step 4
Combine pie filling and raisins. Spoon over batter. Drop spoonfuls of remaining batter over filling. Sprinkle with reserved crumb mixture.
  • Step 5
    Bake for 50 - 55 minutes.
