Ingredients For apple streusel coffee cake

  • 1 1/2 lb
    baking apples, peeled and cut into 1/3 inch pieces
  • 12 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1 1/4 c
    sugar
  • 2 1/2 c
    flour
  • 1/4 c
    brown sugar
  • 1 tsp
    lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1 Tbsp
    pecans, finely chopped
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp
    ground allspice
  • 1
    egg, beaten
  • 2/3 c
    buttermilk

How To Make apple streusel coffee cake

    Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a saute pan. Add the apples, 1/2 cup sugar and lemon juice
  • 3
    Cook over medium heat until the sugar dissolves. Continue to cook, stirring as needed until the apples are tender and carmelized. Stir in cinnamon

    COFFEE CAKE

    Whisk together 1 1/2 cups flour with the baking powder, baking soda, allspice and a pinch of salt

    In another bowl, beat together 4 tablespoons of butter with 3/4 cup sugar until light and pale yellow. Mix in egg until incorporated

    Slowly beat in the buttermilk and the flour mixture in 3 alternating batches, ending with the flour mixture. Fold in the apples

    Preheat the oven to 350. Spray a 9x9 inch baking pan with an oil spray and sprinkled flour

    STREUSEL

    Mix together 3/4 cup flour, brown sugar, pecans and 6 tablespoons cold butter, cut into cubes

    Use your clean fingers to make crumbs

    Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Crumble the streusel evenly over the top and bake for about 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean
