This is a recipe I got from church cookbook I got as a gift back in 1977. It is by far my favorite cookbook. This is just a wonderful festive Fall time dessert...the caramel sauce that you serve with the cake is outstanding.

Ingredients

  • APPLE PUDDING CAKE

  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 c
    butter
  • 2
    eggs, well beaten
  • 4 c
    finley diced raw apples
  • 2 c
    flour
  • 1 tsp
    nutmeg
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • CARAMEL SAUCE

  • 1/2 c
    brown sugar
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1 Tbsp
    flour
  • 1/2 c
    cream or half & half
  • 1/2 c
    butter
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla

How to Make Apple Pudding Cake with Caramel Sauce

Step-by-Step

  1. Apple Pudding Cake: cream butter and sugar; add eggs, apples. Add dry ingredients. Bake in a greased 9 x 13 inch pan at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Serve with caramel sauce below.
  2. Caramel Sauce: Mix sugars and flour together in a saucepan. Add cream, butter and vanilla. Bring to a low Boil, and boil 2 minutes. Serve warm over Apple pudding cake.
  3. The sauce keeps well..you can refrigerate, and warm sauce as needed.
