apple pie cake with butter-rum sauce
My husband and I stopped while on vacation down south at a small restaurant off the beaten path and fell in love with the dessert that was included with our meal. I had to ask about it and the waitress was very helpful, but stopped short about the recipe. After vacation I came home and after several tries I have finally perfected it at home. It is absolutely delicious.

Ingredients
- APPLE PIE CAKE
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 - egg
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 3 cups peeled, diced cooking apples
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- BUTTER RUM SAUCE
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup whipping cream
- 2 tablespoons rum
How To Make apple pie cake with butter-rum sauce

Step 1Cream butter, gradually add sugar, beating well at medium speed.

Step 2Add egg; beat until blended.

Step 3Combine flour, salt, and cinnamon; mix well.

Step 4Add to creamed mixture; beat on low speed until smooth.

Step 5Stir in water and vanilla.

Step 6Fold in apples and pecans, spoon into greased and floured 9x9" baking dish.

Step 7Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

Step 8Serve warm or cold with Butter-Rum Sauce and a dollop of whipped cream.

Step 10Combine brown sugar, sugar, butter and whipping cream in small saucepan.

Step 11Bring to a boil, and cook 1 minute.

Step 12Remove from heat and stir in rum.
