This was found handwritten on a piece of paper in my great-grandmother's cookbook. I started making it for my family about 30 years ago. My family loves it and if you like apples so will you.

Ingredients For apple dumpling cake

1½ cchopped apples

1 craisins
-
1 pkgapplesauce or spice cake mix
-
½ cwater
-
½ cbutter or margarine
-
1/3 cdiary sour cream
-
3eggs
-
2 cwater
-
½ cfirmly packed brown sugar

whipped topping
How To Make apple dumpling cake

1Heat oven to 350° F. Grease the bottom only of a 9 x 13" pan.

2Spread apples and raisins evenly over the bottom of the pan.

3In a large bowl, combine cake mix, 1/2 cup water, butter, sour cream, and eggs at low speed until moist. Beat 2 minutes at high speed. Spoon batter evenly over the fruit in the pan.

4In a small saucepan - heat 2 cups water and brown sugar to boiling. Pour over batter.

5Bake for 40 to 50 minutes.

6Serve warm. Refrigerate leftovers.

7To rewarm, cover the pan with foil and heat at 350° for about 12 to 15 minutes.
