apple dumpling cake
This was found handwritten on a piece of paper in my great-grandmother's cookbook. I started making it for my family about 30 years ago. My family loves it and if you like apples so will you.

Ingredients
- 1½ cups chopped apples
- 1 cup raisins
- 1 package applesauce or spice cake mix
- ½ cup water
- ½ cup butter or margarine
- 1/3 cup diary sour cream
- 3 eggs
- 2 cups water
- ½ cup firmly packed brown sugar
- whipped topping
How To Make apple dumpling cake

Step 1Heat oven to 350° F. Grease the bottom only of a 9 x 13" pan.

Step 2Spread apples and raisins evenly over the bottom of the pan.

Step 3In a large bowl, combine cake mix, 1/2 cup water, butter, sour cream, and eggs at low speed until moist. Beat 2 minutes at high speed. Spoon batter evenly over the fruit in the pan.

Step 4In a small saucepan - heat 2 cups water and brown sugar to boiling. Pour over batter.

Step 5Bake for 40 to 50 minutes.

Step 6Serve warm. Refrigerate leftovers.

Step 7To rewarm, cover the pan with foil and heat at 350° for about 12 to 15 minutes.
