apple dapple cake
This is a recipe from my Telephone Pioneer Cookbook (Nebraska). The picture doesn't do it much justice but it has a very good and moist topping on it. It is typically baked in a 10 x 15" pan and I used a 9 x 13" this time. ENJOY!

How To Make apple dapple cake
-
Step 1Cream together eggs, sugar, and oil. Combine flour, soda, salt, and cinnamon. Add this to creamed mixture; 1 cup at a time, beating well. Add the 5 t. of vanilla; 1 cup chopped nuts, 2 cups coconut, and 3 large apples chopped (I use Granny Smith). Bake in 10 x 15" pan that has been greased and floured; 45 minutes at 350 degrees. TOPPING: 1 stick margarine, 1 cup brown sugar, 1/4 c. milk. Let this mixture come to a boil and cook 2 minutes. Puncture warm cake with a fork and spoon this topping over the cake. This is a very moist cake and is better after it sits a while. ENJOY
