Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup very warm water
  • 1 package dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 - eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 1/3 cups unsifted flour
  • TOPPING INGREDIENTS
  • 3 large apples, peeled and sliced
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 6 tablespoons butter

How To Make apple crumb coffee cake

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 375.
  • Step 2
    Measure the water into a small bowl.
  • Step 3
    Sprinkle yeast on top.
  • Step 4
    Stir until dissolved.
  • Step 5
    Cream butter thoroughly in a large electric mixing bowl.
  • Step 6
    Gradually add the sugar and salt.
  • Step 7
    Cream together.
  • Step 8
    Add the yeast mixture, eggs and milk and beat at medium speed until well blended.
  • Step 9
    Gradually add and blend in the flour while beating at medium speed; beat until the mixture is well blended.
  • Step 10
    Spread the batter in a well-greased 9x9\" pan.

    Arrange Apple Crumb Topping over dough.

    Cover and let rise in a warm place, free from draft, until doubled in bulk, about 1 hour.

    Bake in 375 oven for about 35 to 40 minutes.

    Turn out of pan and cool on a wire rack.

    Apple Crumb Topping: Arrange sliced apples on the dough.
