This recipe comes from my favorite aunt.She's the one who taught me how to make pie crusts and pies. I always enjoyed spending time at her house as a kid as she was always cooking and baking. She can make anything and make it look so easy.
So deliciously moist.

  • 2 1/2 c
  • 1 1/4 tsp
    ground cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 c
    brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp
  • 3/4 c
    butter - i cut into chunks
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground cloves
  • 1 c
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 2 c
    peeled and chopped apples ( about 1/2 inch cubes.) i use granny smith
  • 1/2 c
    chopped nuts

How to Make ~ Apple Awesome Crumb Cake ~


  1. In a bowl, or food processor, add flour, cinnamon, cloves, Brown sugar and stir or pulse to mix if using Preheat oven to 375 degree F. Grease a 9 x 13 baking dish.

    Add butter and pulse 6 - 7 times until crumbly. Or use a pastry blender. Reserve 1 cup of this mixture for the topping.
  2. Place remaining mixture into a bowl if using processor and stir in, baking soda, vanilla, buttermilk and egg. Stir until well combined. Fold in apples and nuts.
  3. Spread batter evenly into prepared dish. Sprinkle evenly with the 1 cup of crumb mixture you reserved.
  4. Bake for 30 - 35 minutes or until pick comes out clean. Cool on rack.
