This is great on a cold winter's day with a cup of coffee or tea.

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups flour
3/4 cup sugar
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup shortening
1 - egg
3/4 cup milk
1 cup apples pared and chopped

How To Make apple coffee cake

Step 1

Mix in a large bowl the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt, mix with a fork, and cut in shortening then add egg and milk mix well.Then stir in apples, pour in to a greased 8x8x2" pan.

Step 2

Topping: 14/ cup of brown sugar, 1/4 cup of flour, 1 tsp cinnamon 1/4 cup of butter. Combine and mix till crumbly, sprinkle on batter and bake 40 to 45 minutes at 350*
