Ingredients

  • 1/4 c
    butter or margarine, softened
  • 3/4 c
    sugar
  • 1
    egg
  • 1 1/2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 2/3 c
    milk
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1 c
    finely chopped cooking apples
  • 1/3 c
    sugar
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon

How to Make Apple Coffee Cake

Step-by-Step

  1. Cream butter and then gradually add 3/4 cup sugar, beating well. Add egg and mix well.
  2. Combine flour, baking powder, nutmeg and salt. Add to creamed mixture alternating with milk--begin and end with milk. Mix well after each addition. Stir in vanilla.
  3. Pour into a greased and floured 9 inch pan.
    Combine apples, 1/3 cup sugar and cinnamon and mix well. Spread the apple mixture over the batter.
  4. Bake at 375 for 25-30 minutes.
    Makes a 9 inch coffee cake.
