When my daughter was 4 she used to ask if she can cake for breakfast every morning. So I came up with a recipe for breakfast cake. She has loved it ever since.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 1/3 c
    butter, softened
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 c
    milk
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1/2 c
    applesauce
  • 1/2 Tbsp
    cinnamon
  • 1 c
    oats, uncooked
  • 1 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/4 c
    butter, cold
  • 1/4 c
    all purpose flour

How to Make Apple Cinnimon Oatmeal Cake

Step-by-Step

  1. Mix 3/4 cups flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  2. beat butter and sugar together. Add Vanilla and eggs.
  3. Gradually pour flour mix and milk, alternating, into sugar mixture.
  4. add cinnamon, applesauce, and oatmeal. Mix together.
  5. pour into a buttered and lightly floured baking dish.
  6. Bake at 350 for 45 minutes +/- till toothpick comes out clean.
  7. (optional Brown sugar crumble/crust topping)
    Mix 1 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup flour, and 1/4 cup cut up butter in a bowl. Use a fork to mix and press together until it looks like crumbles.
  8. Spread brown sugar crumbles over the cake.
  9. Broil for 1-3 minutes.
