Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons cinnamon
- 5 tablespoons brown sugar
- 5 cups apples, granny smith
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice

- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup oil
- 4 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- pinch salt
- 4 - eggs, lightly beaten
- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
How To Make apple cinnamon coffee cake

Step 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Step 2Grease a 13 x 9 pan or a 12-cup tube or bundt pan with cooking spray.

Step 3Peel and core all apples. Take two apples and slice thinly. Chop remaining apples up into small pieces. Toss with lemon juice to prevent browning.

Step 4Combine cinnamon and brown sugar and set aside 1 tablespoon; toss prepared apples with remainder and set aside.

Step 5For the cake, whisk together sugar, oil, vanilla, orange juice and eggs.

Step 6Combine flour, baking powder and nutmeg and fold into sugar mixture.

Step 7Line bottom of pan with apple slices. Spoon a little more than one third of the batter into prepared pan; cover with half of apple mixture, then spoon in remaining batter and apple mixture.

Step 8Sprinkle top lightly with the reserved cinnamon-sugar.

Step 9Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes (1 hours for bundt) or until done.

Step 10Loosen sides with a butter knife, then invert cake onto a plate for serving.

Step 11NOTE: May lower fat in recipe by replacing oil with applesauce.
