1In small bowl, combine apple wedges,sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg stir to completely coat the apples and set bowl aside... In large bowl using electric mixer beat together oil, eggs, orange rind and juice and vanilla, until smooth and frothy.
2In separate combine flour, sugar, baking powder add to egg mixture just til well combined. cut apples into thin slices and fold into batter pour into well greased 10 inch spring form pan. Bake in preheated 350F oven for 55 minutes test with toothpick in center of cake and remove cake from oven if tester is not clean and bake another 5 minutes and test again,,Cool in pan for 10 minutes remove from pan and cool on plate.
3In small saucepan over medium high heat combine butter, sugar and whipping cream...bring to boil stirring constantley until smooth, remove from heat,,poke holes in cake with skewer and pour warm glaze over cake. serve as is or with a dollop of ice cream..
