One of my oldest and dearest friends used to make this in the fall. It is one of the best apple cakes I have ever tasted..and simple too.

Ingredients

1/2 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
2 - eggs
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
4 cups apples, peeled and diced
1 cup nuts, chopped

How To Make apple cake

Step 1

Cream shortening and sugar. Add the rest of the ingredients except nuts.

Step 2

Nuts can either be added to the batter or put on the top of the batter.
Step 3

Bake in 9x13 pan 350 degrees 45-60 mins.
