This recipe was given to me by a gypsy woman years ago. Its a very good cake and stays moist as long as the cake survives, which is not very long.

Ingredients

butter, softened
2 c
sugar
2 large
eggs
6 medium
apples,finely chopped
2 c
all purpose flour
2 tsp
baking soda
1/2 tsp
salt
1 tsp
cinnamon, ground
1 tsp
nutmeg
1 c
chopped walnuts

ICING

3 oz
cream cheese, room temperature
1/2 stick
butter,softened
1 box
powdered sugar
1/4 c
milk

How to Make Apple Cake

Step-by-Step

  • 1Cream butter and sugar very light and fluffy, Beat eggs in one at a time[very well]. Stir in apples. Sift together flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmegStir flour mixture, nuts, and apples mixture together. Bake 45 minutes in a 13x9 pan in a 350 degree oven.
  • 2ICING---Take 3 oz cream cheese and cream with butter. Add powdered sugar and milk til Icing is stiff.
  • 3ICING Variation;--Beat together 2 tablespoon butter, 1 cup sifted powdered sugar, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla. Add 1---2 tablespoon apple juice beating til spreading consistency.
