apple banana bread
I love banana nut bread, but can not eat nuts too often. Today, since I had some bananas that had turned dark and a couple of apples, I decided to combine the two and make a delicious bread.
Blue Ribbon Recipe
Adding apples takes banana bread to another level. We loved the bits of chopped apples throughout the moist and tender banana bread. There's just the right amount of ground cinnamon and nutmeg for a nice hit of spice. Enjoy this for breakfast, an afternoon snack, or a light dessert. It's a nice apple twist for fall.

How To Make apple banana bread
Test Kitchen Tips
This is a very large loaf. After 1 hour, ours was not baked. We lowered the temperature to 325 degrees F and baked for another 25 minutes. Make sure to use a tester to bake until it comes out clean.
-
Step 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour a loaf pan.
-
Step 2Prepare apples. I peeled and chopped my apples in a food processor. If you do not have one, just chop up small with a knife. In a separate bowl, mash bananas. Mix in milk and vanilla extract.
-
Step 3Mix butter and sugar with a mixer. Add eggs; beat until well blended.
-
Step 4In another bowl, mix flours, baking soda, cinnamon, salt, and nutmeg.
-
Step 5Alternate adding the flour mixture to the butter mixture.
-
Step 6Then the banana mixture.
-
Step 7Fold in chopped apple. Stirring with a spoon.
-
Step 8Pour batter into the prepared pan.
-
Step 9Bake for 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
-
Step 10Cool in pan 10 minutes. Remove and cool.
