Ingredients
- 1/2 cup lard (you can use crisco, margarine or butter)
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 - egg
- 1 teaspoon each: salt and vanilla
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 3 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 pints pie filling (cherry or apple works well)
- CRUMBS
- 1/2 cup oatmeal, uncooked
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/4 cup lard or butter
How To Make amish filled shortcake

Step 1Cream together lard, sugar, egg and salt. Add the dry ingredients alternating with the milk, until all is blended. Pour 1/2 of mix in a greased and floured cake pan, cover this the pie filling, then the last of the mix.

Step 2in a bowl blend all the crumbs ingredients and crumble over top of mix. Bake at 350 until done 25-35 minutes. Serve warm or cold, with or without ice cream.
