Grease and flour 9x13 pan. Preheat over 375 degrees.

  • CAKE

  • 1/2 c
    butter, room temperature
  • 2 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 2 c
  • 2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 3 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract

  • 6 Tbsp
    butter, soft
  • 4 Tbsp
  • 1 c
    brown sugar
  • 1/2 c
    nuts (your favorite)

How to Make Amish Cake


  1. Cream together butter and sugar
  2. Mix in buttermilk and soda.
  3. Add flour and vanilla.
  4. Bake until done. Test with fork and when it comes out clean, the cake will be done.
  5. TOPPING: Mix all ingredients and spread on cake while it's still hot.
  6. Bake for 1 minute or until top is bubbly.
