This is another favorite of mine. It is an Old fashioned German Butter Cake. I used to make this a lot and take it to work when I was still living in Milwaukee. It is a simple cake, but so good!

Ingredients

  • 1 c
    butter, room temperature
  • 1 2/3 c
    sugar
  • 5
    eggs
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 2 c
    cake flour
  • 1
    teaspoon vanilla
  • ·
    almonds, blanched

How to Make ALTMODISCHER DEUTSCHER BUTTERKUCHEN or GERMAN BUTTER CAKE

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time beating well after each egg. Add vanilla.
  3. Combine flour and salt. Add to sugar/egg mixture. Mix until combined. Do not over mix!
  4. Butter a tube cake pan or bundt pan or fluted tube cake pan. I use bundt. Line the pan sides and bottom with blanched almonds.
  5. Carefully spoon the cake batter into the pan.
  6. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until it tests done. Remove from pan to a cake rack to cool. When cool sprinkle with powdered sugar.
