This is another favorite of mine. It is an Old fashioned German Butter Cake. I used to make this a lot and take it to work when I was still living in Milwaukee. It is a simple cake, but so good!

Ingredients
- 1 cup butter, room temperature
- 1 2/3 cups sugar
- 5 - eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups cake flour
- 1 - teaspoon vanilla
- - almonds, blanched
How To Make altmodischer deutscher butterkuchen or german butter cake

Step 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Step 2Cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time beating well after each egg. Add vanilla.

Step 3Combine flour and salt. Add to sugar/egg mixture. Mix until combined. Do not over mix!

Step 4Butter a tube cake pan or bundt pan or fluted tube cake pan. I use bundt. Line the pan sides and bottom with blanched almonds.

Step 5Carefully spoon the cake batter into the pan.

Step 6Bake for 50-60 minutes or until it tests done. Remove from pan to a cake rack to cool. When cool sprinkle with powdered sugar.
