1Preheat oven to 350. Grease and flour two loaf pans.
2For crust, combine brown sugar and 1/3 cup butter until light and fluffy. Stir in toasted almonds and flour. Blend well. Divide and press evenly into pans.
3For cake, combine cake mix, eggs, water and 1/2 cup butter at medium speed for 4 minutes. Pour into pans. Bake 45-50 minutes or till tester comes out clean. Cool in pans for 10 minutes and then invert onto cooling racks, crust side up. Cool completely.
4For glaze, combine powdered sugar, 1 T water and extract and stir till smooth. Add more water 1 teaspoon at a time until glaze is the desired consistency. Spoon over cooled loaves. Sprinkle sliced almonds over top.
