Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/3 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup almonds, toasted
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 package duncan hines moist deluxe butter recipe golden cake mix
  • 3 - eggs
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3 tablespoons sliced almonds for garnish

How To Make almond butter loaves

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350. Grease and flour two loaf pans.
  • Step 2
    For crust, combine brown sugar and 1/3 cup butter until light and fluffy. Stir in toasted almonds and flour. Blend well. Divide and press evenly into pans.
  • Step 3
    For cake, combine cake mix, eggs, water and 1/2 cup butter at medium speed for 4 minutes. Pour into pans. Bake 45-50 minutes or till tester comes out clean. Cool in pans for 10 minutes and then invert onto cooling racks, crust side up. Cool completely.
  • Step 4
    For glaze, combine powdered sugar, 1 T water and extract and stir till smooth. Add more water 1 teaspoon at a time until glaze is the desired consistency. Spoon over cooled loaves. Sprinkle sliced almonds over top. FREEZES BEAUTIFULLY!!!
