How to Make Alexander Wolcott Dutch Apple Cake
1Peel core and slice apples and sprinkle with mixture of the brown sugar and cinnamon.
2. Cream butter and sugar and unbeaten eggs 1 at a time, stirring well. Add lemon rind, add flour and baking powder, a little at a time. Fold carefully.
3. Cover with about half of the sliced apples. Spread on remaining half of batter. Arrange rest of apple slices in pattern on top. Bake 1 hour at 350.
