Ingredients
- - 5 medium apples
- - 1/2 t. cinnamon
- - 1/3 cup brown sugar
- - 1/2 cup butter
- - 1/2 cup white sugar
- - 3 eggs
- - lemon rind -- grated
- - 1 1/2 cups flour
- - 1 1/2 t. baking powder

Step 1Peel core and slice apples and sprinkle with mixture of the brown sugar and cinnamon.

Step 2. Cream butter and sugar and unbeaten eggs 1 at a time, stirring well. Add lemon rind, add flour and baking powder, a little at a time. Fold carefully.

Step 3. Cover with about half of the sliced apples. Spread on remaining half of batter. Arrange rest of apple slices in pattern on top. Bake 1 hour at 350. Source: My Old Recipes
