Adult Fudge Bread

I make this every Christmas. It makes nice gifts too. I bake some in mini bread pans and wrap it in red or green saran wrap with a pretty bow.

dark molasses
1 stick
butter or margarine, room temperature
1/2 c
1/2 c
brown sugar
3 Tbsp
dark cocoa powder
1/2 c
1 tsp
baking powder
1 tsp
vanilla extract
1/8 c
jack daniels, for soaking
1/4 c
powder sugar
1 Tbsp
dark cocoa
1/2 tsp
jack daniels
1/2 tsp
vanilla extract
milk as needed to thin glaze

How to Make Adult Fudge Bread


  • 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a mixing bowl mix softened butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time to incorporate. Then add molasses and vanilla.
  • 2Sift together flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder. Add slowly to liquid mixture until combined. Pour into greased and floured bread pan. (I like to cut a piece of wax paper and put in pan before flouring - then in grease it and flour the entire thing. This really helps when you remove it from the pan)
  • 3Bake for 30 to 45 minutes until done. Test with a toothpick. Once done remove from pan and cool on a wire rack. Once cooled place back into pan and pour 1/8 cup jack daniels and place in fridge overnight to soak.
  • 4Remove bread and transfer to serving platter.

    For the glaze:

    mix powder sugar and cocoa. Then add jack daniels, vanilla and milk to create a glaze then pour over the bread. Let glaze set before slicing to serve.
