Adult Fudge Bread

I make this every Christmas. It makes nice gifts too. I bake some in mini bread pans and wrap it in red or green saran wrap with a pretty bow.

dark molasses
1 stick
butter or margarine, room temperature
1/2 c
1/2 c
brown sugar
3 Tbsp
dark cocoa powder
1/2 c
1 tsp
baking powder
1 tsp
vanilla extract
1/8 c
jack daniels, for soaking
1/4 c
powder sugar
1 Tbsp
dark cocoa
1/2 tsp
jack daniels
1/2 tsp
vanilla extract
milk as needed to thin glaze


1Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a mixing bowl mix softened butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time to incorporate. Then add molasses and vanilla.
2Sift together flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder. Add slowly to liquid mixture until combined. Pour into greased and floured bread pan. (I like to cut a piece of wax paper and put in pan before flouring - then in grease it and flour the entire thing. This really helps when you remove it from the pan)
3Bake for 30 to 45 minutes until done. Test with a toothpick. Once done remove from pan and cool on a wire rack. Once cooled place back into pan and pour 1/8 cup jack daniels and place in fridge overnight to soak.
4Remove bread and transfer to serving platter.

For the glaze:

mix powder sugar and cocoa. Then add jack daniels, vanilla and milk to create a glaze then pour over the bread. Let glaze set before slicing to serve.
