Ingredients
- 1 cup corn syrup
- 1 cup cold water
- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cloves
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
How To Make 1917 war cake

Step 1Put corn syrup,cold water, salt, cloves and nutmeg in saucepan and cook for 3 minutes till it reaches a boil.

Step 2Add oil and when cool add soda dissolved in a little hot water in a bowl.

Step 3Mix flour and baking powder and add to ingredients. Stir well.

Step 4Pour into greased tube pan or 13x9" pan and bake for one hour at 325 degrees. Check for doneness till its golden brown.
