1-2-3 mayonnaise cake
(3 RATINGS)
My mother told me this cake started during the depression era - no eggs or shortening needed because they are in the mayonnaise. She made this cake for my birthday - always a 5 layer cake for birthdays with Fudge Frosting! I'm 70 now, and I still want this cake for 'my day' but a 2 layer or sheet cake is just fine.

How To Make 1-2-3 mayonnaise cake

Step 2Grease and 'lightly flour' (using cocoa instead of flour) 2 - 8" cake pans - or 12" x 9" pan
-
Step 3Put soda and cocoa in small bowl then add warm water to dissolve - stir
-
Step 4Put Flour, Sugar, and mayo in larger bowl - then add dissolved cocoa mixture - mix well (can use hand mixer). Pour into baking pans.
