Deep Dish Apple Pie
- 6 lg. cooking apples, peeled and sliced
- 2 C. flour
- 3/4 C. brown sugar
- 3/4 C. oatmeal (quick)
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 C. shortening
- 3/4 C. sugar
- 1 Tbs. cornstarch
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 C. boiling water
- 1 Tbs. butter
Cut in shortening with a pastry blender.
Reserving one cup, press remaining mixture into a 10-inch deep dish pie plate.
Stir in water and butter.
Cook, stirring constantly, for 3 minutes.
Stir apples into hot mixture and pour into prepared pie plate.
Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes.
