6 lg. cooking apples, peeled and sliced

2 C. flour

3/4 C. brown sugar

3/4 C. oatmeal (quick)

1 tsp. salt

1/2 C. shortening

3/4 C. sugar

1 Tbs. cornstarch

1 tsp. cinnamon

1 C. boiling water

1 Tbs. butter
How To Make deep dish apple pie

1Combine flour, brown sugar, oatmeal, and salt in a bowl. Cut in shortening with a pastry blender. Reserving one cup, press remaining mixture into a 10-inch deep dish pie plate.

2Combine sugar, cornstarch, and cinnamon in a heavy saucepan. Stir in water and butter. Cook, stirring constantly, for 3 minutes. Stir apples into hot mixture and pour into prepared pie plate.

3Top with reserved crumbs. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes.
