This recipe is from your Aunt Ruth. I have had it since the 80's. I hope you remember eating it.

Ingredients

  • SAUCE:
  • 8 ounces pineapple tidbits
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 1/2 - green pepper, diced
  • 1 small carrot, cut up in small pieces
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • PORK:
  • 4-6 - pork chops, cut into bite size pieces
  • 1 - egg
  • - salt and pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups flour

How To Make sweet and sour pork

  • Step 1
For sauce, mix all ingredients in a small sauce pan accept sugar and cornstarch. ( I sometimes double the sauce because I like a lot of sweet and sour with my pork.)
  • Step 2
Mix the sugar and cornstarch together and then mix with the other ingredients and cook on medium until clear. Taste to see if you want it sweeter or more sour, add accordingly.
  • Step 3
For the pork; beat the egg in a medium sized bowl and add the pork, mix until all the pork is coated. Mix the flour, salt and pepper together in a zip lock bag. Add the pork and shake until all of the pork is coated. In a skillet, put enough oil in the pan to cover the bottom of the pan-add pork and fry on medium heat stirring occasionally until all pork is light brown-take out and drain fat. To assemble serve on a bed of rice, pork, then sauce.
