banana pudding
I came up with this recipe after I ate it at Mom Burgess'. It is something that we have always enjoyed. I grew up eating banana cream pie. It is almost the same as this accept you put the pudding and bananas in a baked pie shell and do not use the vanilla wafers.

Ingredients
- 1 package vanilla pudding, cook & serve, large size or 1 recipe of vanilla pudding
- milk for pudding mix
- 1 package vanilla wafer cookies
- 2 bananas
- QUICK MERINGUE
- 2 egg whites
- 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/4 cup sugar
How To Make banana pudding
-
Step 1Cook pudding according to directions on package or use my recipe for vanilla pudding, cool (if you do not cool the pudding, it will cook the bananas)
-
Step 2Beat the eggs whites until fluffy. Add the cream of tartar and sugar and beat until peaks form.
-
Step 3To assemble:line the vanilla wafers in a baking dish on the bottom and one layer along the sides of the dish. Add 1/2 vanilla pudding, a layer of sliced bananas add another layer of vanilla wafers, and the other half of pudding. Put the meringue on top and spread to the edges of the dish. Bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes until meringue in lightly brown.
