christmas danish breakfast puff
Makes 2 danishes. Mom made this to serve on Christmas morning every year. Originally, the recipe came from Aunt Wilma Goehle. The alternate frosting recipe was from Florence Lindow who was my piano teacher.

Ingredients
- BOTTOM
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 cup margarine
- 2 tablespoons water
- TOP
- 1/2 cup margarine
- 1 cup water
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 cup flour
- 3 large eggs
- FROSTING
- - confectioners' sugar
- - water
- - almond extract
- ALTERNATE FROSTING
- - confectioners' sugar (alot)
- 1/4 pound margarine
- - milk
- - almond extract
- GARNISH
- - candied cherries, red
- - candied cherries, green
How To Make christmas danish breakfast puff

Step 1Mix the ingredients for the bottom like pie crust. Divide in half and spread into 2 strips about 2" wide about 3" apart on ungreased cookie sheet or jelly roll pan.

Step 2For top: melt margarine add water and bring to a rolling boil, add extract, then remove from heat. Add flour until smooth. Add eggs 1 at a time, heating after each. Smooth top mixture over both bottom mixtures.

Step 3Bake at 350 for 50 minutes. Let cool.

Step 4Mix ingredients for frosting. Frost the tops of the danishes. Garnish with alternating red and green candied cherries.
