Custard Sponge Cake
"This sponge is so easy to make and has a subtle flavour of custard! I usually cut the cakes in half and join with lots of whipped cream, strawberries and grated flake. This recipe makes 2 cakes, so you can freeze one for later use...."
INGREDIENTS

4 eggs, separated
•
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
•
¾ cup caster sugar
•
½ teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
•
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
•
¾ cup cornflour
•
1 tablespoon custard powder
•
2 tablespoons hot water
•
Pinch salt
•
1 teaspoon each icing sugar and cornflour, for dusting pans
