These mushrooms can be served as a luncheon entree, ladled over hot buttered toast or used to fill puff pastry shells.

Ingredients

1 lb. med. sized mushrooms (wiped clean and sliced 1/4" thick, include stem)
1/4 C. butter (or margarine)
2 Tbsp. flour
1 1/4 C. milk
3/4 tsp. salt
pinch white pepper
1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce

Step-By-Step

1Stir fry mushrooms in butter in a large skillet over moderately high heat 2-3 minutes, or until golden. Blend flour with milk until smooth, then slowly stir into mushrooms. Reduce heat to low and cook and stir until thickened. Mix in salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce and serve.
